"Iljimae," a popular drama series on SBS which recorded an average viewer rating of 31.4%, will be aired in Japan. The drama series stars popular actor Lee Jun-ki.
The satellite channel So-net TV, which specializes in introducing Hallyu drama series through "Asia Dramatic TV," plans to air Iljimae in Japan starting November 24. "Mawang," a popular drama series that was recently remade in Japan, as well as "Lobbyist" and "Gyeongseong Gibang Movie Theater" will also be aired in Japan.
So-net TV opened an official website for Iljimae on October 10. It also plans to air a special documentary on the drama series on November 15.

The popular drama series 'Iljimae' recently parodied the controversial press conference of singer Na Hoona.
In the June 26th episode, a high-ranking official named Byeon Shik summons his men to the meeting room and storms at them for humiliating him. When his men feign ignorance, the enraged Byeon Shik jumps onto the table, takes off his official robe, pretends to take off his pants and yells, "Do I have to take off my clothes to prove to you just how serious I am?"
Earlier this year in January, Na jumped onto the table during a press conference and tried to remove his pants to prove his innocence surrounding ungrounded rumors.
Producers of the show said they decided to parody the scene as Byeon Shik is a comic character.

Green Snake Media, the production company of "Iljimae", said, "If possible, the animation will be made within this year". Green Snake Media finished registering the trademark rights of "Iljimae" and they plan to use it to produce various additional works. The drama "Dae Jang Geum" and "Winter Sonata" were also revealed as animations.
They also talked about a possibility of entering Japan. "Japan asked about the copyright, so we sent a representative to negotiate".

SBS "Iljimae" starring Lee Jun Ki continues to set new records as it maintained its stranglehold over other competing shows in the Wed-Thus timeslot.
According to TNS Media Korea, episode 8 of "Iljimae' got 23.0%, smashing its previous record. It was an increase of 2.5% from its episode 7 rating of 20.5%.
In episode 8, Ryung (Lee Jun Ki) edges closer to his transformation into the legendary Iljimae. Ryung who by now has remembered everything about his past witnesses the tragic death of his sister Yeon (Son Tae Young) and decides on taking revenge for them to right their unjustly deaths.
Ryung starts learning from his father (Lee Moon Shik) the basics of being a thief, scaling walls, running for life, picking locks. Ryung tries out his skill, stealing a painting from the home of a minister but instead causes his good friend to be blamed instead. He feels guilty and decides to rescue his friend by going into the palace but meets King Yi Jong instead.
On another hand, the romance element finally is back on as Ryung is finally reunited with Eun Chae (Han Hyo Joo) under the cherry blossom tree. "Woman of the Sun" got 9.6% for episode 6 while episode 10 of "Spotlight" starring Son Ye Jin got only 10.2%, Although both saw small increases in ratings, it looks like they would be playing second fiddle from now on.
The storyline in “Iljimae” is still revolving around Ryung (Lee Jun Ki) by the end of this week episodes with the ljimae character still yet to make an appearance other than the 10 minute cameo in the first episode. And with the romance element yet to kick in either, viewers are starting to get restless.
Following the conclusion of Episode 6, viewers are very concerned about the slow progression of the storyline with Iljimae still yet to appear. They commented, “I’m very disappointed with Iljimae continuing to be absent”, “Iljimae seems like a side character rather than the leading character”, etc. The truth is Ryung will eventually become Iljimae. But compared with Park Shi Hoo’s character which seems to be better developed, it has left a deeper impression on viewers as they sympathise with him more than Ryung.
From the ratings by TNS Media, episode 6 of “Iljimae” saw a decline, getting just 18.6% with it’s rival “Spotlight” rising to 11.3% but still light years behind. KBS “Woman of the Sun” hit double digits for the first time, getting 10.2%

Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Ryung acts as a useless gangster in the marketplace by day but at night he is a chivalrous robber who robs corrupt government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he leaves behind a wooden branch from a plum tree at the site of the robbery to take responsibility for the robbery. The poor citizens only know him as Iljimae. Bong Soon is a hilarious girl with good martial art skills and lives as a swindler. She only loves Ryung and sacrifices her whole life for him. Eun Chan is a doctor’s daughter and is good in nature and usually helps miserable people. She meets Iljimae once by chance, and their sweet love story begins. However, her love puts Iljimae in a dangerous situation because an Imperial Guard also loves her.
